PARENTAL LEAVE
The provision in the BCEA for family responsibility leave in respect of the birth of a child is soon to be amended by shifting it to a new section 25A called Parental Leave. Once effected this provision will mean firstly, that the employer will no longer have to pay employees for leave for the birth of a child, and secondly, that the employee’s parental leave entitlement will increase to 10 days per year. Baring these factors in mind will this change, on aggregate, be good or bad for employers?
